In Assignments 1 and 2, you learned that each planet occupying a box places its primary objects in that box's Vastu zone. A planet sitting in Box 1 (East) fills the East with its objects. A planet in Box 9 (NE) fills the NE with its objects. Clear, direct, one-to-one.
But walk through any real home and you will immediately notice something: the East zone doesn't only contain Box 1 objects. The NW doesn't only contain Box 2 objects. There are additional things there — extra furniture, unusual items, objects that don't seem to belong to the primary planet at all. What put them there?
Planetary hits. Assignment 3 reveals the second layer of Astro-Vastu: every planet in your birth chart simultaneously sends energy — at specific angles — to multiple other boxes. These angular transmissions are called hits. Each hit adds the hitting planet's sub-objects to the zone of the hit box. The result is that every Vastu zone in your home receives objects from multiple sources: the occupant planet (Assignment 2) plus all planets hitting that box (Assignment 3).
When a planet transmits energy to another box in the birth chart, the angle of that transmission determines the quality and strength of the sub-objects it adds. There are exactly 9 recognised hit types in the Astro-Vastu system, each with a distinct influence on the objects it places.
Understanding what each hit quality means is essential for reading objects correctly:
- 0° Mixed Traits — the two planets are conjunct, blending each other's qualities so thoroughly that the resulting object carries both planets' traits simultaneously.
- 30°/150° Assisting — the hitting planet gently supports and adds to the hit box's energy. Objects placed are secondary, helpful, and complementary — not dominant.
- 45°/135° Pausing — objects placed with a pausing hit are intermittent — they appear and disappear, are used occasionally, or have a stop-start quality. Furniture that is moved around often, items used only sometimes.
- 60° Supportive Essential — a strong, constructive hit. Objects placed are genuinely essential and functionally supportive. Think structural fixtures, pathway elements, foundational objects.
- 90° Stopping — a tense, stationary hit. Objects placed are immovable, stuck, or create blockage. Generators that never seem to start easily; appliances that malfunction; things that stop the flow.
- 120° Very Essential — the strongest beneficial hit. Objects placed are absolutely necessary for the zone's function and are found reliably and consistently. The best suitcase, the most-used item, the core functional piece.
- 180° Blocking — the most difficult hit. Objects placed have a blocking, obstructive, or storage-type quality. They take up space, accumulate, and resist movement. Curtained storage rooms; things that block passage.
Every planetary hit in the Astro-Vastu system is written as a compact formula that encodes all the information you need. Once you can decode these formulas, you can read any Astro-Vastu analysis instantly.
Example formula: 30 Su.Aq.12
(Assisting)
(Sun)
(Aquarius)
(Box 12)
Rule 1 — Hits Add Sub-Objects to Zones
A planet adds an Object or Sub-Object of its traits to a Vastu Zone of a building through its hit on the corresponding box. The zone is determined by the hit box's cusp sign — not the hitting planet's box.
Rule 2 — Hit Type Defines Object Quality
The 9 hit types (0°–180°) define the characteristic of the added object: assisting, supportive-essential, pausing, stopping, very-essential, or blocking. Always read the hit degree first to know the object's behavioural quality.
Rule 3 — Object Goes to Hit Box's Zone
The added sub-object is found in the Vastu Zone represented by the cusp sign of the hit box — not the hitting planet's home box. Example: Sun in Box 12 hits Box 1 at 30° → object goes to East (Box 1's cusp Aries/East), not West (Box 12's zone).
Rule 4 — Hit Adds Sign & Box Traits to Object
The hit also adds the traits of the sign and box occupied by the hitting planet to the added object. So "30 Su.Aq.12" adds authority (Sun) + public welfare flavour (Aquarius) + daily use context (Box 12) to the object.
Rule 5 — Object Placed in Activity Area of Hit Box
The added sub-object is placed in the physical activity area of the hit box — in the functional space that expresses that box's life themes. A Box 3 hit places objects in the presentation/meeting area of the NW zone, not just anywhere in NW.
Rule 6 — Dual Cusp = Object in Both Zones
When the hit box has two cusp signs (due to the 4° Orb Rule), the sub-objects are added to both or either of the signs' zones. A hit on Box 3 (Taurus/NW + Gemini/NNW via orb) may place objects in NW, NNW, or both.
Rahu-Ketu Special Hit Rules
Rahu and Ketu have three additional rules that govern how they interact with planetary hits:
- Ra/Ke add their own objects and sub-objects in the Vastu zones represented by the box cusp signs of planets that hit Rahu or Ketu. When a planet hits Ra/Ke's box, Ra/Ke's objects spread into that hitting planet's box's zone.
- Objects of Ra/Ke get placed in the boxes of planets hitting Ra/Ke — not just in Ra/Ke's own zone, but physically in the boxes of the planets that send hits to them.
- If the hitting planet is in a box whose cusp is owned by Ra/Ke, or in a sign owned by Ra/Ke, the added objects also carry the traits of the box occupied by Rahu or Ketu itself.
These rules explain why Rahu and Ketu objects (TV, clocks, indicators, toilets, sewage) appear in seemingly unexpected zones — they follow the hit patterns of other planets rather than their own position.
3 Critical Checks Before Every Hit Analysis
- Check if Hit Box has two cusp signs (4° Orb Rule) → apply Rule 6 if yes
- Check if Hitting Planet is in two signs (4° Orb Rule) → apply Rule 4 for both signs if yes
- Check if Hitting Planet is in a sign or box owned by Ra/Ke → apply Ra/Ke Rule 3 if yes
Below is the complete hit analysis from Vastu Guruji RS's Delhi home — each of the 12 boxes, the planetary hits it receives, the sub-objects those hits add, and the real-world verification from the actual home. This is the most detailed Astro-Vastu teaching example available.
1
Box 1 — Personal Belongings & Accessories
Cusp: Aries (East, E6) + Pisces (SE, E7, S2) via 4° orb
East E6 + SE
▾
Box 1 represents the self — personal belongings, accessories, and identity. Its cusp Aries (East/E6) is augmented by Pisces (SE/E7, S2) via the 4° orb rule. Any planet hitting Box 1 adds sub-objects related to personal items and accessories in the East or SE zones.
Planetary Hit Received
What This Means
The Sun (from Box 12, in Aquarius) assisting-hits Box 1. It adds authority-type objects related to public welfare systems and daily governance to the East zone — specifically in the personal belongings area (Box 1 context). Via Ra-Ke Rule 3, the Box 10 (governance body) context also applies.
2
Box 2 — Valuables, Money, Family Activities & Discussion Area
Cusp: Taurus (NW, W7) — Consistent Processes
NW / W7
▾
Box 2 governs family wealth, valuables, and family gathering/discussion activities. Its Taurus cusp points to the NW zone (W7). Any hit to Box 2 places a sub-object in the NW — in the family discussion or valuables area.
Planetary Hit Received
What This Means
Mercury (green, wooden) in Pisces/Box 12, pausing-hits Box 2. It adds a green-coloured, wooden, Mercury-type object related to research/daily use, used intermittently (pausing), placed in the NW family discussion area.
3
Box 3 — Performance & Presentation
Cusp: Taurus (NW, W7) + Gemini (NNW) via 4° orb
NW + NNW
▾
Box 3 (performance and presentation) receives three separate hits — making it one of the most richly populated zones in the home. Each hit adds a different type of sub-object to the NW (or NNW via orb), creating a layered, multi-functional presentation area.
Hit 1
Venus (comfort, designer, beige) in Aries/Box 1, pausing-hits Box 3. Adds a designer, beige, comfort-type object (sofa set) for showing personal belongingness during guest presentations. Placed in NW (Taurus cusp, Box 3).
Hit 2
Sun (orange, authority, MCB/generator) in Aquarius/Box 12, stopping-hits Box 3. Adds a stationary, orange Sun-type object (MCB, generator) related to public welfare for daily use governance, placed in NW (Taurus/W7 cusp, Box 3). Via Ra-Ke Rule 3 (Aquarius co-governed by Rahu), Box 10 governance body context applies.
Hit 3
Mars (action tools, sharp items) in Aries/Box 1, assisting-hits Box 3. Adds action-type tools (Mars) from personal belonging context (Box 1) for presentation and meetings (Box 3), placed in NW (Taurus cusp, Box 3).
4
Box 4 — Building Front, Facing & Essential Learnings
Cusp: Gemini (NNW) — Pairs, Networking, Pathway
NNW
▾
Box 4 (building front and facing) receives two hits that determine the physical pathway objects — tiles and gate — leading to the main entrance. The NNW zone (Gemini cusp) is where the building's approach path sits.
Hit 1
Mars (red, square, fire) in Aries/Box 1, supportive-essential-hits Box 4. Adds a red, square Mars-type object essential for safety and pathway connectivity (Gemini/Box 4), from personal belonging context (Box 1). Object placed in NNW (Gemini, Box 4 cusp).
Hit 2
Saturn (black, iron, heavy) in Taurus/Box 2, pausing-hits Box 4. Adds a black, iron, Saturn-type object for pathway connectivity and building front, from family regularity context (Taurus/Box 2). Placed in NNW (Gemini, Box 4 cusp). Pausing = a gate that opens and closes intermittently.
5
Box 5 — Solution Providing, Hobby & Entertainment Area
Cusp: Cancer (NNE) — Intuitive, Care
NNE
▾
Box 5 (hobbies, entertainment, solutions) receives one very strong hit — a 120° Very Essential hit from Mercury. This places a highly functional, essential Mercury object in the NNE hobby/entertainment zone.
Planetary Hit Received
Mercury in Pisces/Box 12 (foreign travel, research), very-essential-hits Box 5 (solutions, entertainment). Adds a green, twin/paired Mercury object related to foreign travel readiness and solution-oriented use in the NNE hobby area.
6
Box 6 — Serving Area
Cusp: Leo (ENE) — Compliances, Reinstating Systems
ENE
▾
Box 6 (serving area) receives an assisting hit from Mercury that places knowledge and communication objects in the ENE serving area — items used for serving, documenting, and supporting daily operations.
Planetary Hit Received
Mercury (books, music, communication) in Pisces/Box 12, assisting-hits Box 6. Adds Mercury-type objects based on research (Pisces) from daily use context (Box 12) for utilising in serving activities (Box 6). Placed in ENE (Leo, Box 6 cusp).
7
Box 7 — Public Interaction & Assisting Staff
Cusp: Libra (WSW) + Virgo (North) via 4° orb
WSW + North
▾
Box 7 (public interaction, assisting staff) receives a Mars hit that places fire-related tools in the WSW zone — specifically kitchen and gas cooking equipment that assists the staff serving in the public interaction zone.
Planetary Hit Received
Mars (fire, tools, gas burner, cutting tools) in Aries/Box 1, assisting-hits Box 7. Adds fire and tool-type objects from safety/resolve context (Aries/Box 1) for assisting staff (Box 7). Placed in WSW (Libra, Box 7 cusp). Note: the North zone (Virgo, 4° orb) shows no object added — confirmed by verification.
8
Box 8 — Maintenance, Behind Curtains
Cusp: Scorpio (SW, S7) — Layout, Planning
SW / S7
▾
Box 8 (maintenance, things kept behind curtains) receives Saturn's most powerful and difficult hit — a 180° blocking hit. This creates a space of total storage blockage — a curtained room in the SW that accumulates old, general storage material.
Planetary Hit Received
Saturn (storage, old items, accumulation) in Taurus/Box 2, blocking-hits Box 8. Adds storage-type blocking objects (old stuff, general storage) from consistency/family values context (Taurus/Box 2) for maintenance behind curtains (Box 8). Placed in SW, S7 (Scorpio, Box 8 cusp).
9
Box 9 — Dharma, Meditation & Higher Learnings
Cusp: Scorpio (SW, S7) + Sagittarius (NE) via 4° orb
SW + NE
▾
Box 9 (dharma, meditation, higher learnings) receives no hits in RS's chart. Its energy is expressed purely through its cusp signs: Scorpio (SW/S7) for layout and planning, Sagittarius (NE) for what to do and goal setting.
- Dharma, meditation and higher learning area → NE (Sagittarius cusp)
- Layout and planning support → SW, S7 (Scorpio cusp) — no hit-placed objects, only cusp energy
- What to do and goal setting → NE
10
Box 10 — Excellence, Growth & Staircase
Cusp: Sagittarius (NE) — What to do, Setting Goals
NE
▾
Box 10 (excellence, growth, staircase) receives no hits. Its energy is expressed through its Sagittarius cusp (NE), placing all excellence and growth activity in NE. Goal-setting objects and staircase are in NE — purely from cusp energy, not from hits.
11
Box 11 — Friends & Party Area
Cusp: Capricorn (SSE, South, S6) — Strategy & Structuring
NE via Ra-Ke
▾
Box 11 (friends and party area) receives no hits. Its cusp is Capricorn (SSE/South/S6). However, via the Rahu-Ketu Rule, the friends and party area is found in NE rather than SSE. Strategy and structuring activities also move to NE via Ra-Ke Rule. This is a pure Ra-Ke displacement with no hit-placed objects.
12
Box 12 — Foreign Travel, Accessories, Daily Needs
Cusp: Aquarius (West, W6) — Social Welfare, Help
W + NE via Ra-Ke
▾
Box 12 (foreign travel, daily needs) receives no hits. Via Ra-Ke Rule, the foreign travelling and daily need management area is found in both West and NE. Social welfare and help activities move to NE by Ra-Ke Rule. The West zone expresses Box 12's Aquarius cusp energy directly; NE is the Ra-Ke displaced expression.
The following is a zone-by-zone summary of every hit-placed object verified in Vastu Guruji RS's Delhi home — the same home shown in the Assignment 3 floor plan diagram. Every item below was predicted by hit analysis and confirmed physically in the building.
Your KP Astro-Patri chart shows "Column H" — the hits each box receives. List which planets hit each of the 12 boxes and at what angle. This is your raw hit data.
From Assignment 1, you already know each box's cusp sign. Now apply the 4° orb rule: if the cusp is within 4° of the next sign, mark both signs. This goes in Column B of Assignment Table 3.
For every hit received on each box, write it as [degree] [Planet].[Sign].[Box]. Then decode: identify the hit quality (from the 9 types table), the planet's object traits, and the sign and box context. Apply the 3 critical checks (4° orb on hit box, 4° orb on hitting planet, Ra/Ke involvement).
Use the formula: [Planet] + [hit quality] + sub-object + [Sign traits] + [Box context] + [activity of hit box] → placed in [Cusp Sign zone]. This gives you the complete verbal description of why a specific sub-object is in a specific zone.
Go zone by zone and physically locate the objects predicted by each hit formula. Write what you find. If an object is where the formula says — the system is confirmed for your chart. If not — re-check the Ra/Ke rules; often a displacement has occurred.
Every zone now has: occupant planet objects (Assignment 2) + hit sub-objects (Assignment 3). Together these explain everything in the zone. Any object that remains unexplained after both assignments is worth investigating — it may indicate a Vastu misplacement that is affecting the corresponding life area.
